NORTH COUNTRY CHAMBER LEADS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MISSION IN MONTREAL:

FEATURING CONGRESSWOMAN STEFANIK AND

STATE SENATOR LITTLE

The North Country Chamber of Commerce  is co-leading a special two day economic development mission to Montreal along with U.S. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and New York State Senator Betty Little.

The two days will be filled with briefings and meetings designed to help identify opportunities for cross border collaboration on shared economic development aims, including key sectors of interest of importance to both Quebec and the North Country such as Transportation Equipment and Aerospace, Advanced Materials, Biotech, Logistics, Clean Energy and Forest Products.

"We were pleased to organize the visit with our Quebec partners at the request of Congresswoman Stefanik, who is quickly emerging as a key voice in Congress on U.S.-Canadian matters and  will be using this first official visit to Canada since taking office as an important fact finding and relationship building opportunity," reports Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the North Country Economic Development Council. "We're especially pleased that Tony Collins, President of Clarkson and my fellow co-chair of the Regional Economic Development Council, will be joining us to explore various technology sector connections that can help us implement our regional strategies. And of course Senator Little who has long supported our region's Quebec-New York activities as Honorary Chair of the Quebec-New York Corridor."

Other members of the delegation will include Plattsburgh City Mayor James Calnon; St. Lawrence County IDA Executive Director Patrick Kelly; Essex County IDA Executive Director Carol Calabrese; and Susan Matton, Vice President of Economic Development at the North Country Chamber.

The itinerary will include high level meetings with Quebec officials; activities hosted by the U.S. Consul General in Montreal; several technology sector briefings and discussions arranged by Montreal International, metropolitan Montreal's lead economic development organization; a luncheon roundtable with targeted guests; a discussion with a group of young Montreal entrepreneurs; and a high level meeting with Hydro Quebec.

The North Country Chamber of Commerce is the largest business and economic development organization in northern New York, and serves as the lead New York organization in the facilitation of economic connections between New York and Quebec, co-leading the Quebec-New York Corridor Coalition.
