MALONE AND NORTH COUNTRY CHAMBERS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP - - The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce and the Malone Chamber of Commerce signed and announced an historic Partnership Agreement today, bringing Malone into the regional chamber and bringing a number of new benefits to the Malone business community.
"This is a true milestone in linking and unifying the regional business community," states Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber. "With the 253 members of the Malone Chamber added to our regional network, the North Country Chamber now has 3,500 member companies and organizations across Clinton, Franklin, Essex and northern Warren Counties, further securing our status as one of the five largest business organizations in New York State. This means an even stronger voice on behalf of business and economic development, with a stronger community chamber for Malone and a stronger regional chamber for the entire North Country."
"This is a harbinger of the path that the North Country will find most effective in securing our future," states Hugh Hill, President of the Malone Chamber of Commerce. "It amplifies our influence on matters that affect Malone and the region, while bringing major new services toMalone area businesses."
The new agreement, signed this morning in front of more than 80 Malone area business and community leaders, mirrors existing partnerships between the North Country Chamber and ROOST, the Saranac Lake Area Chamber, the Tupper Lake Chamber, the Ticonderoga Area Chamber, the Schroon Lake Chamber and the North Warren Chamber. Under the terms of the partnership, all members of the Malone Chamber become Associate Members of the North Country Chamber, with access to a number of basic benefits including health insurance, electricity discounts and small business support, among other newly shared services. In addition, the Malone Chamber will now be a part of the North Country Chamber's government affairs work in Albany and Washington, and will be linked with the regional chamber's economic development efforts and initiatives, including its crossborder partnerships with Quebec.
The North Country Chamber has been steadily developing a regional business and economic development alliance over the last several years as a core part of its strategic vision. "We often refer to the need for the North Country to punch above its weight," states Douglas, "with regionalism being the one way to enhance our advocacy and also develop and deliver the best possible business services. It's working, and now it will work even better and reach additional businesses and communities."
