| Our Can/Am Connection Council has developed a groundbreaking method for quantifying
the economic impact of Canada on a border area in the United States. This impact
assessment is now conducted for the Plattsburgh-Champlain-Clinton County area of New York
every two years, and is comprehensive in its scope, covering economic categories as
diverse as crossborder trade, industrial investment, professional services, real estate,
taxes, media, banking, insurance, retail and more.
The purpose of this bi-annual project is to define and track this immense and growing
economic phenomenon, and to utilize the findings as an important tool for education and
advocacy.
Multiplied across the border and on to the south, it makes it clear that the REAL
economic benefits of the U.S.-Canadian relationship are many times greater than the basic
trade numbers quoted by our officials.
