Methodological
Note: Of
the 62 legal firms surveyed in 1998, only 11 (18%) responded, and 6 firms
are either out of business or no longer practicing in Clinton County.
Overall, the responses dropped from 18 of 53 (34%) in 1996 to 11 (18%) in
1998, however the firms that did respond were those that had accounted for
business conducted in 1996 with Canadian and border-related firms.
Six of the firms that responded in 1998 had participated in the 1996
study. These six firms represented 99% of all the business reported in
1996 and 100% of data reported for 1998, therefore we can make direct one
to one comparisons between 1996 and 1998. Recommendation
for Replication: The
Chamber should obtain prior agreement to participate in the next
replication study from those specific legal firms which responded to this
study. The Chamber should
revise and update the list of legal firms operating within Clinton County. With each replication of this study, the intent should be to
track the responses of firms which have responded previously, thus
compiling comparable trend data, while continually expanding the base of
total respondents. |
