Overall, charitable contributions have increased by 64% among Canadian-owned businesses and over 7.5 times for International border businesses from 1996 to 1998.

Methodological Note:

An initial phone call was made to one charity identified by the Chamber to inform them of the intent of the study. YWA sent correspondence that included a cover letter, a one-page survey form and the lists of Canadian businesses, international border businesses and public sector border agencies located in Clinton County. The charity was asked to respond to the survey only with regard to contributions from those organizations listed.

Recommendation for Replication:

Obtain prior agreement to participate from the charity which responded to this study for the next replication.
