The volume and dollar value of Canadian natural gas purchased by Clinton County power companies increased by 63% and 82%, respectively, from 1994 to 1996.

Methodological Notes:

The 1994 figures include data from Falcon Power Operating Co. (Saranac Energy), Georgia Pacific, and NYSEG. The Falcon Power plant initiated operations only in the last six months of 1994. The 1996 data reflects the same three firms, however, Falcon Power Operating Co. is now CalEnergy. Data was obtained through telephone surveys conducted by Yellow Wood Associates, Inc. All three firms were helpful and fairly prompt in providing data for the total volume of natural gas purchased. The dollar value of the natural gas reflects actual purchase prices for each buyer, which are different, not an average price per million BTUs.
