CANADIAN VISITOR SPENDING

The extent to which Canadian consumers have an economic impact in Clinton County is assessed through two customer surveys conducted in early December 1996 and late July 1997. The Christmas season sampling of Canadian visitors utilized a survey conducted only at retail stores, both for the original study and this replication. The Summer season sampling is a more comprehensive survey conducted at businesses representing retail, campgrounds, gas stations, hotels & motels, marinas, recreation centers, and restaurants. Future Canadian visitor spending surveys, Christmas season and Summer season, will utilize the combined group of businesses representing retail and tourism.
