CHAMBER TO PROMOTE PLATTSBURGH AS AEROSPACE CENTER AT FARNBOROUGH
The North Country Chamber of Commerce will once again coordinate and lead the New York State presence this year at the Farnborough International Air Show. The show will be the largest aviation and aerospace event in the world in 2018, featuring more than 1,500 exhibitors from 52 countries and up to 75,000 industry professionals from all over the world, including 124 civilian and military delegations. The gathering, set for July 16-22, is held at Farnborough outside of London every two years. In 2016, $124 billion worth of orders and contracts were finalized and announced.
In addition to overseeing the New York State booth in the U.S. Pavilion, the Chamber will participate in a number of meetings and networking events during the week. This will include a New York State reception for invited aerospace leaders, co-organized by the North Country Chamber and Norsk Titanium.
The Chamber is retained by Empire State Development to fully coordinate and operate the state's booth at the show, in turn allowing for the marketing of Plattsburgh International Airport and the North Country as a location for aerospace and transportation equipment investments at no cost to the Chamber, airport or region. Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber, and Susan Matton, Vice President for Economic Development, will be there to lead the effort.
The North Country Chamber serves as the Marketing and Development Agency for Plattsburgh International Airport under contract with Clinton County and plays a lead role along with the Development Corporation in growing the area's transportation equipment and aerospace cluster.
