Legislative Update:

• Changes in the Wage Theft Prevention Act
• Changes in SHRM Learning & Certification System
• OSHA Recordkeeping
• OSHA’s updated recordkeeping rule expands the list of severe injuries that all employers must report to OSHA. Establishments located in states under Federal OSHA jurisdiction must begin to comply with the new requirements on January 1, 2015.
• OSHA updated the list of industries that are exempt from the requirement to routinely keep OSHA injury and illness records, due to relatively low occupational injury and illness rates.
• Minimum Wage Proposals
• Minimum Wage increased to $8 in 2014, $8.75 for 2015 and will automatically increase to $9 for 2016. Even so, there is a strong push for further increases, to as high as $15 per hour.
