Companies lose too way too much money in turnover each year.  Managers need to spend more time thinking strategically about the skills they need their staff to have to be successful. In this training, you will learn how to make your interviewing process fair, legal and defensible.  And, you will learn how to choose the best candidate – the one who is the right fit for each position.

  • Identify the business case for behavioral/skills-based interviewing
  • Recognize the impact of a bad hire on the organization, other employees and the overall work place
  • Review the research supporting behavioral/skills-based interviewing
  • Recognize of the elements and process of a behavioral interview
  • Evaluate legal and illegal interview questions
  • Formulate (or review if the company has one) a job description with key skills, knowledge and abilities targeted
  • Practice constructing a skills-based interview including questions and evaluation matrix

Ms. Cobb's specific areas of expertise are program and organizational development and the presentation of highly effective, interactive educational workshops. Her clients are diverse including manufacturing, universities, government, casinos, libraries, and not-for-profit health and human services organizations.

Ms. Cobb holds a M.S. Ed. in Instructional Technology, specializing in Training and Development, from the State University of New York at Potsdam. Her professional experience is diverse, ranging from bi-lingual counseling (Spanish) in the NY prison system to directing a community-based health coalition.
